I have a 2005 Safari. I was told by the dealer that the rocker battery "store" switch does not disconnect all battery supplied items. The LP detector and power jack are two items I know are still powered on.
After about eight weeks in storage (please no comment about that duration, it hurts me too) my battery supply was greatly depleted.
I would like to stop this issue by placing a disconnect switch on the batteries. I purchased a "knife" type switch but I have little room to install for proper clearances. I'm hoping that someone else has crossed this bridge and point me in a creative direction to solve this problem.

FBF,
Please note that even if you disconnect your battery(s) at the terminals, if they are standard liquid cell type lead-acid batteries, they will self discharge in about 4-6 weeks from a full charge. This is with absolutely nothing connected to them.
The self-discharge is caused by the comparitively high internal resistance found in all liquid cell batteries. I would suggest converting to AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries in the future. They have a much lower internal resistance that allows them to charge quicker and retain their charge for a much longer period of time.
Unfortunately, when you store batteries without a trickle charger, the disconnect will not solve your problem.
