Wow! Cool! I'll have to take some more pics of my progress this week. I've gotten the left side trip piece rivetted back on. Now I'm removing all of the LAST pieces of rusty hardware. Anything not rivetted on comes off. I'll probably replace the snaps with stainless ones only if I do a tunneau (sp?) cover for the rear. The only thing about that is, with a split mid section, having a cover might look funny. Who knows. If I don't replace it, I'll probably just sink some flush rivets into the holes and repolish the trim. That way everything will blend in.
Time to get on eBay and start buying parts again. I need to find some of those cleats/guides you have on the bow. My buddy's FC (same year as yours, i think) has them, too.
I do have one bad hole on one side where the hull is punctured (way above the water line, but it still looks like crap). And the previously mentioned bow damage. If I can get it out of the basement to work on it this week, I'll photograph it. LONG way to go before she gets in the water, but I've got all winter.
Another thing I'm going to have to do this week is make a dolly to move the boat around on. I'll need it for when I take the trailer in for paint, and when polishing the front and lower sides (it's WAY easier to flip the boat for that). Plus, putting it on a dolly will make it easier to squeaze into my woodshop (currently filled with the closet cabinets i'm making for baby #2... I've only got 4 weeks to finish the nursery, too!)... busy times!
Keep posting progress, though! I can see this turning into a sub-cult of the airstream club! Already looking forward to April!
