GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 7,500 ft. The campground has eight loops and a spur (Knoll) - Zuni, Apache, Cherokee, Mohave, Pima, Osage Way, Broken Blade, and Twisted Arrow. It meanders around the mountaintop through a stand of large, mature Ponderosa pine. Many of the camp sites have magnificent views of the surrounding mountains or the Mojave Desert. Some sites have bear proof food containers. Big, spacious, widely separated camp sites, provide ample privacy. The Knoll (sites 12 - 15) are on a dead end with no turn-around - only tents are recommended. Pima, Osage Way, and Mohave Rim Loops have the campground's shortest parking aprons and tight, winding interior roads. The lodge at adjacent Ski Sunrise offers a cooks night out, public phone, 27-hole "Disk Golf," and occasional entertainment. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.
