My extreme curiosity would be screaming at me to at least take a peek under the hood. You might want to clean the dust and bugs off the coils and shopvac the detritus ($5 word for loose matter) that you may find in the housing. Also check any tubing insulation and wiring connections. Just like a homes HVAC system, it should be inspected annually. Preventive Maintenance never hurts. Failure to check always does.

You might also want to pull your A/C user manual and see what it recommends and the frequency.

Why do air condioners never break in the winter and heaters never break in the summer? One of lifes mysteries.
