The best thing the PO did was to get rid of that uncomfortable ugly, unpractical, Thing.
As soon as I find the way to have a U shaped sofa in that area I will remove that "thing" (will keep it stored for any future owner who would like to stay 100 % original)
My advice is for you to stay away from a replacement sofa that would oblige you to sit and lounge with your back facing the scenery
Why did Airstream put those large wrap arround picture windows & then install a sofa facing inwards into the darkness
I even thought 2 recliners might be cool.
