waterproof wallpaper

Does anyone have one of those sit-down showers whereby the walls are covered with a seemingly 'waterproof' wallpaper. It is old, and outdated. I want to replace it. Has anyone replaced this paper or do they go directly to one of those fibreglass sheets and cut to fit instead??? Any ideas would be helpful. Also, when I redo the wallpaper I want refinish the the actual basin by giving it a new finish/color. Right now it is that aged/dull yellow/beige. I dont want bright white, but an off white. Anyone recommmend any specific product/process for spraying it? Can I spray it in place?

Thanks!!!!

A balmy +34C here!!!!!! Ugh....
