Hi Mike --I'm sure you mean a CO detector. And those do have to be mounted high. Your CO detector probably is surface mount, right? These holes aren't right over the stovetop, are they?
What about putting the CO detector in the bed area and placing something decorative to cover both holes? Just brainstorming ... no hot ideas actually.
