Corner full size bed
I have the streetside corner full size bed which measures 75" long by 54" wide not counting the rear curvature of the trailer. There are two sheet of lightweight veneer type sheeting which is screwed into the aluminum frame running perpendicular to the side of the trailer. The PO placed another thin sheet of plywood over this which is only 48" wide and maybe 70" long in addition to placing a piece of slippery plastic sheeting on top of that. I guess he was looking for additional support with the extra plywood and using the plastic as a vapor barrier or to protect the mattress.
My question is, can I remove the original two thin vaneer sheets with slightly thicker plywood? My reason is that I want to cut a round hole in it so that I can mount an 8" boat deck screw lid to access the bypass valves on my water heater underneath? I currently have to squeeze through the rear compartment to reach the valves and I'm real close to getting stuck. Could you see the headlines: "Airstream owner suffocates in side access compartment!" I realize I could just lay a piece of plexiglass over the hole but want a white ring clear center deck access to make it right. What do you think?
