I wonder if it might possibly be one of the early (1930s production) trailers that made use of masonite. There are at least two pictured on the Vintage Airstream Club website:
Idenitified as approximately 1934: http://www.airstream.net/images/model.jpg
Identified as a 1932: http://www.airstream.net/images/picnic.jpg
Or possibly a Byam Holiday from the early 1950s: Vintage Airstream - '52/'53 Holiday
