Just replaced the flooring in a 25' last week. Remove the carpet as best you can. A sharp utility knife and many blades will help. You have two ways to go, you can put the cork down without a new sub floor, its the way we went, or put down 1/4" luan ply screwed and glued and then install the flooring. Run the flooring lenthwise and you will be happier with the results. It takes as long to put down the 1/4 round as it does to install the floor. The entire project was completed in a weekend. One piece of advice install the 1/4 to the floor by glueing not nailing, the nails will work loose. If you attach it to the wall in lieu of the flooring it will not be able work with the floor as the flooring flexes. You will be very happy with this choice of material.
