Hi all,
I did a search on plastic hinge material on the forums and came up with no matches after hours of reading threads; so I will try the power of the forum!
Here is my problem. After 36 years the plastic hinges on my storage bin covers on the Caravel are all almost at once beginning to fail leaving now 3 and soon four free floating pull down doors .
Last year I talked to some other vintage owners at the Brooks (OR) outing and discovered by inspection of a Jackson Center built 1971 unit his hinges and covers were slightly different, (enough so they might not easily interchange) and also noted some had used metal piano hinge which to me was not a good solution. Any suggestions out there? The hinge is asymetrical as it bends only on one edge and folds up smooth so both door halves slide in out of the way. I found one plastic hinge manufacturer on the internet that could run off a custom batch; I am willing to do this if others are interested or better yet maybe we could talk Steve at Vintage or Andy at Inland into participating if there is no there is no other source. I await the power of the forum, and please send me a private message if someone wants me to post some photos.
