thanks for your helpful suggestions! I was just in your neighborhood this week, by the way. I'm from Shelter Cove in Humbolt Co., and just came home today from a trip to the Marble Mountains wilderness area near happy camp.

I'm not very computer/digital camera savvy, so it might take awhile to figure out how to post pictures. But in answer to your questions, the wall is not vinyl clad or painted, seems to be just pure white vinyl, no metal underneath until you get past the insulation layer to the outer skin. From the inside out, the layers are: 1. the cut and damaged vinyl or some kind of plastic layer, white color; 2. the insulation; 3. the outer aluminum skin.

Still hope somebody out there has some constructive ideas. Thanks for the input!
