I feel bad replying to you based on everything you have done on your trailer but here goes anyway. Obviously, everything changes with each model year (if not month to month) but I looked at a 2006 28' Classic before I cheaped out and bought the Safari. In that unit, the mirrors were held in place by a very small metal or plastic channel above and below the mirror. Since I knew they would have to go, I tried sliding the mirrors. They moved with a little effort. That is about all I know.
