afternoon rbcci watchers......

thanks for the positive comments, feedback, karma or just plain silly comments...
keep 'em coming!

this isn't my thread it is our thread!

...one of the more exciting events here,
was the grand opening of a coffee bar....
i like my espresso straight...
followed by a double latte chaser....

so catching a wiff of fresh ground....
drew me into the airstream corp building,
where jc ohio service folks,
and the company store
and the local dealer
were camped.....
doing biz....

as i followed the aroma,
there appears the 'silverjoes.com' stand....

turns out all the brand protection by the mothership.....
has a point....
my understanding is.....
a/s corp plans to license the name, logos
and other 'streamer trademarks.....
in various ways with various products....

airstream lifestyle sort of things....
and products that might appeal to the airstreamers out there....
well, i'm wayyyyyyy out there,
but perhaps clothing, appliances and various do dads......

and most certainly COFFEE!
seems this project/product has been in the works awhile....
and the international was chosen for the launch.....
coffee, tee's, rv espresso machines and what not......

it is called silverjoes.com so visit their website
for a look at the logo, products and so on....
but ya can't get aroma on line!

turns out the barista workin' the booth
is a long time supporter of rbcci....

that's nice,
so is the espresso....
come on taste the adventure!
i've got a buzz on now..........

cheers

as i savored my cup'o joe, espresso.......

who wheeled by in a golf cart?

none other than dave schumann....
head of somethin' at airstream...
and the author of schu's news....
in the blue beret.....

dave started on the assembly line....
doing insulation, i think....
this is where all the rookies used to cut teeth....
or quit......
dave and airstream prospered.....
as he moved up....
'customer services'? i think...
is what he heads.....

the golf cart wasn't for playin' a' round.....
rather it serves as his transportation....
as he runs the grounds....
servin' customers.

doesn't he look happy?
mr schu' is also a proud wearer of the new beret....
dashing isn't he?

cheers

dave took off.....
(he volunteered to recalibate all my holding tanks, and torque my lug nuts)

as the coffee cup bottom appreared.....
so did another pair of rbcci supporters.......
who are famous in their own right....
i mean domains....
or rather blogs.....

yes folks.....
none other than rich luhr (who shall remain anonymous)
and 'rich c' who goes by "gadget" here.....
and is the author of the didgital rv our bible for rv electronic gadgets....

of course both riches are working the rally.....
trying to get richer.....
while enjoying the airstream life.....

with these guys wearing the new beret
it's only a matter of time......
rbcci has narrowed the new beret field......
and is closing in.....
on the new hat....
imagine that!

it was really great to met these 2 young free thinkers,
who promote the airstream lifestyle...
and bring us such a great magazine and gadget help....

oh rich.......can you reformat my sony ipod thingie?
and rich.....why does everyone else get the mag b4 me?....

cheers

i'm feeling pretty good about the direction of the new beret now.......
seems the choices have been made....
we have narrowed the field.......
soon we will have a vote.....

of course,
someone might torpedo this movement,
or offer up another choice in toppers.....
i'm ok with that....

as i left the corporate building
a double take was needed...

was that who....
me thinks it be......
holly cow, it is......
de' boss.....
sporting the new beret!

if ya don't know how this is......
my all your aluminum be dull......
because 'mr. h' certainly isn't.....

he has been with airstream a very long time
and no doubt he's kept his new beret.....
wearing it on special occasions only....
like today

we can see the wheels turnin'......

as the big man says.....
"how bout a rasta safari edition guys, can we do it?"

cheers

nearly spent and speechless (ok just spent)

after this encouter, i head for the exit, back to my trailer.....
to check for flag violation notifications.....

just as i'm about to mount the bicycle....
in walks the tall man....
arriving for larry's offical address to the members......
a 'state of the airstream union' so to speak....

now it's clear.....
we are definitely on the right hat trick track......
since dickie himself,
sports the rbcci beret.....

a towering figure.....
who makes a towering sum.....
having raised the bar at airstream....
he is now doing the same for thor.....
won't the gods be happy?
i think

regardless,
he does look rasta cool......
'how bout a teeeenhut mon' ?
don't worry be happy.....
dickie is.....

and it was beyond kind.....
for him to show support,
for the new beret....

cheers

well i hope you are enjoying my visit to salem.....

i have.....well sort of
because i'm met some really great people who airstream.....
and from the forums.....
you know who you are

this will be my last post in this thread for a few days.....
i'm headed off to the silver falls rally....
to have fun with forum folks and freaks and so on....

i'm not done reporting on the international yet......
just taking a wireless pause....

so i'll leave you with these 2 photos.....

the first is my door bell/knocker......
which naturally violates rally protocol.....

do ya know why?

seems 2air' isn't equipped for taking or leaving messages......

so he's been updated to comply....
one clothes pin for incoming....
another for outgoing....
gosh i hope the colors are correct.....

now that he's properly dressed, please leave a message!

it was easier making the door bell comply.....
than i.........
or is it me.....?
or both?

cheers

Cool

2air -

I live in Portland and went down for the day. Me thinks I just missed you...

--

Also, I thought I would attach a couple of picts. For folks to get an idea of what a sea of aluminum looks like. All the folks I meet there were extraordinary nice. I may go back Sunday or for the 4th to visit the flea market.

2air I hope I get to meet you.

The wife and i went down last night and wandered around a bit. Most folks were really friendly. We had been there about 45 mins when a older(obviously) couple stopped us to ask if we "needed help". Understandable considering the break ins. We relayed that we were indeed AS owners and were just having a look. They perked up at that point and for the next few minutes were were evading recruitment attempts.

That was a lot of AS in one place. Too bad it isnt like it was in the glory days of the club.

Enjoying it immensely . Where do we sign up for the RBCCI membership? Will there be a decal to go alongside our AIR sticker?
Either hat works for us. Will they be worn only as official protocal, or can we sport them anytime/ anywhere? Man, I want one of them big medals ( do they come in gold? ). I'm ready to place my order .

Be a good boy , but have fun at the Silver Falls R. just the same.

Thumbs up Great virtual rally!

Great thread 2air, what fun! That pirate flag is great!
I wonder if any of this will be featured in Airstream Life? Shouldn't there be a section in the magazine on the rbcci?

heeeeeeeeeeeeee's baaaaaaaaaaaaack..........

hi porky, denellen, sista, van, jdl, rebel, hooked' and others who still want the scoop from the rally.....

-hey hooked'......nice rhymn' isn't it fun!
-denellen your p'diddy chain and rb are on order....pick'em up at the next rally!
-jdl.......sorry we didn't meet.... and i went up to tigard on the 30th! hope 2 meet you soon! nice pix also....

while the 49th wbcci int is over.......
it's not history yet.....

i've still got some reporting to do.......

let's take a look at the most unique newer trailer......
that came to the rally.....
but couldn't stay at the rally.....

these folks were just passin' through.....
from florida to seattle....
as members of a florida unit of wbcci,
they hoped to spend ONE night
on the site.....
no such luck

since they were not registered, they were not allowed to stay.

h3ll, they could have been allowed to at least boondock......but noooooooo.
there just wasn't any space left.....
or right
in the salem fair grounds....

the 2nd photo was shot.....
as the parking committee,
escorted them off the lot...
so much for courtesy parking
seems flower power isn't what it used 2 be.....

cheers

the most important committe.....

i learned there are over 320 different job descriptions for the international..
and as many committees......
some years not all are used......
while new ones are formed as needed.....

the tank flush crew...
is by far the most important...
because everyones got2go
and all the 'go' has got to be moved...
at 16.50$ per flush.....
that's right each and every time....

i talked with some folks who only got dumped once....
the folks in my row got dumped every 3-4 days
perhaps that says something about how full of it my row was....
or was it just me?

anyway this was the go2guy.....
he said.....
"we are #1 at #2!"
he also volunteered to wear the rbcci beret.....
but given where his head had been...
i opted just to snap his committee hat...
with a rose......

and the main tool of his craft......
connecting us all at the rally......
regardless of political views.....
or titles,
or units,
all bow down to the stinky slinky....

cheers

here is a view of his crew at work.....
on the far left is the actual worker,
with the traile owner hovering over...
then the learners

while on the far right,
witht the 'red' ribbon....
the committee chairperson wb big wig.....
note the gloves and clean white shirt....
it was hard for me to get a photo with him in it...

this was as near as he ever got to the action.....
what would have happened with an impaction?

cheers

job completed, doc the retired vet in a bambi II,
explains to the young ones.....
'how we dumped in the old days'

one of the crew exits,
for the next trailer

and his attire struck me....
long black socks and shorts are common enough,
but 1 glove?
was he entering the michael jackson look alike contest?
or did he just get one hand dirty?

also his tee shirt is my favorite for the entire rally....
can u make out the messsage?

i want one......
