Go 7 miles to Loop 1604 turn left onto 1604 go 1 mile, turn left onto Stuart Road go ½ mile to stop sign, turn left into Park entry. Park is 3.5 miles long w/ many grassy sites. Cost is $4 per adult, $2 per child, or $2 per senior for each 24hour stay. For the 2 of us, it was $8 per day. Very quiet and pleasant. To dump, go back to I-37, go south on I-37 about 1.5 miles to Southton Rd. exit, turn east on Southton Rd. On left, Bruenig Lake RV Park charges $5 to dump. Sabine National Forest Indian Mounds Campground - $4.00, Also, Lakeview Campground - $2.00 , Willow Oak Campground - $2.00 , Ragtown Campground - $5.00 , Red Hill Lake Campground $6.00 Sam Houston National Forest Double Lake Campground - $15 , Kelly's Pond Campground - Free , Stubblefield Lake Campground - $7.00 SheffieldA couple miles off I-10 near Sheffield which is 60 miles east of Fort Stockton. Take exit 343 off I-10 and go 2-3 miles toward Sheffield and there will be a very seldom used rest area on the south side of the hwy.. The rest area sits at the top of a bluff overlooking the valley below. It used to be a scenic view spot on the old road between San Antonio and El Paso, before I-10. No restrooms, but there are picnic shelters and tables and room for about 8-10 RV's and its free! It is a great place to stop for the evening. It is far enough away from I-10 so that is is very quiet. STEPHENVILLE - City park on HWY-67 going S out of town. Also: County park w/ 8 - 10 shady sites, $10 per night on Hwy. 281. TEXARCANA - Piney Point COE Park. From 7th & State Line Ave, take US-59 S 12.5 mi, local rd W 0.8 mi. On Lake Wright Patman. 60 sites. 14-day limit. Flush toilets, showers, tables, bathhouse, fishing, boat ramp, scenic views. Open Mar-Oct. Free. TORNILLO Exit Mile marker 55 about 40 miles east of El Paso on I-10Take the road to Tornillo from I-10 and there is an unofficial camping spot about ¼ mile from I-10 on the east side of the road. It is a construction staging area created when they were rebuilding I-10. We camp here on a regular basis, TV reception is good, and it is far enough from I-10 to be reasonably quiet. Just pick out a nice level spot and enjoy. VAN HORN: W Texas. From I-10, take exit BUS-80. Chuy's restaurant on N side of 80 has 2 large parking lots & allows O/N parking if asked. Good Mexican food.
