Welcome to the forums. You certainly have been doing your homework. Some batteries are better than others. What you can do is install a series of golf cart 6volt batteries in the same area and get more life. Do a search here and you will find quite a bit about that. As for the solar I can be of little help. What I have read is that I camp in too much wooded, and Northern areas to do any good with solar.
