| Rebuild Details
The rebuilding process required a) replacing all the O rings (Sears had them) b)cutting a new upper-case rectangular gasket from sheet gasket material from a local plumbing supply c)smoothing the surfaces of the knife blade d)designing a spacer plate to raise the knife blade; from use and smoothing the knife blade had reduced in thickness to the point that it would not seal against the O ring e) adjusting the thickness of the rectangular gasket (using a palm sander) between the two valve assembly halves such that the valve assembly halves could be bolted together with enough pressure to a)produce a leak-proof valve shutoff and b)seal the two valve assembly halves.
The valve is back in and currently works very well. For how long who knows.
(there are some pictures of the benched valve in my photo album )
